Government officials and insurance underwriters all have regulations governing
the health and welfare of your employees on the job. Most managers and business
owners don’t have the time or expertise to keep current with code updates
and procedural changes to stay in compliance. You’re too busy making
your business work.
This is where Finger Lakes Risk Control can help. Call us and see what we can
do for your
company.
Risk Control is the process of identifying and prioritizing risks, then
introducing measures that would reduce,
if not eliminate adverse events from occurring.
Business owners and property managers are exposed to a vast number of fire
and life safety management challenges. Issues such as protecting the health
and safety of employees, preventing asset loss due to fire, and maintaining
the continuity of business operations can all be addressed by a comprehensive
risk control program.
The foundation of a risk control program is partially based on regulatory
requirements. Regulations from the New York State Fire Code, OSHA, local
codes, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and others all directly effect how you do
business. As a business owner, you will be held accountable to these rules.
Are you following them? Do you even know what’s required? Are you
ready for an inspection by a regulatory enforcement official? An effective
risk control program will answer these questions.
Program management, encompassing elements such as fire protection inspections,
preventative maintenance, and employee training, is another part of a complete
risk control program. These elements are measured and validated by both
regulatory officials and your insurance company. Missing elements could
lead to regulatory violations or even changes to your insurance premium.
Even with the best risk control program, disaster can strike. In many cases,
the business interruption is greater than the actual cost of property loss.
Business continuity planning seeks to minimize interruption and re-establish
full function as swiftly and smoothly as possible by establishing the processes
and procedures needed to ensure essential functions continue during and
after a disaster. By not having a plan in place you could potentially lose
market share and customers, and that is a gamble no business manager should
take.
